My name is Jim deVries. Being born in 1988 my childhood consisted of ‘The Big Green’ and ‘Heavy Weights’, however my tastes quickly matured into movies with a little more substance. My cinema knowledge may not run as deep as Alex’s, but I could hold a conversation quoting only ‘The Big Lebowski’ (I’m not entirely sure if I should be proud of this however).Critically assessing movies/literature is something I have always loved to do, and was a logical extension of my writing. Up until now my writing has mainly consisted of technical papers, and a few essays’s concerning the environment. However, having a creative outlet to talk about Hollywood’s lack of creativity for original storytelling is something I am truly looking forward to.
